Pintuco Muralism

This project was carried out for the Pintuco Foundation, where we won the mural competition to intervene low-income educational institutions in the rural town of Magui Payan, Colombia, South America.

This design focuses on the premise "The Patía River, the heart of our wealth" not only because the physical configuration of its slopes allude to a heart with venous ramifications, but because this valuable community has been built around it and this, its heart, over the years has been beating slower and slower, due to climate change, this design is born with the superimposition of satellite images every 10 years, from the first record to the present, where we capture the variation of the flow with shades of darker blue for the old form and light blue for the current one. However, this heart, properly cared for by its community will continue to beat to give life to it, this movement is evoked in the phase shift of the color pulses that illuminate the classroom and fills with life and hope to their students.

The configuration of this design, is determined in 3 parts, the first is the projection on the back wall of the classroom, where we find the abstract conceptualization of the cartography of the place, with its mountains and valleys delimited by organic shapes using different tones to evoke different heights, in the middle we find the heart of the river with its pulsations of color and the territorial location of the community, thereby reminding the students, where they come from, their cultural roots, where their wealth lies in the community.

The second part is dictated by the slopes of the river, which extend around the classroom, taking as its own walls and floor, pointing to the board and its teachers, alluding to the path of education as a sure way for personal growth and development. The use of color stands out in the palette whose tone mimics the clay soil of the floor.  And the last part is the main wall, where we find the teaching space, the slopes come together at this point pointing to where you want to get, resulting in this formal configuration, the analogy of "Where do I come from? where am I going? and what is the way to get there? Its answer will be given by the users of the enclosure with their personal growth strengthened in their territorial roots, through the path of education and its goal... The personal improvement and strengthening of their community.
